Goodwill Houston Hosts Annual “Goodwill Derby” Gala, Spotlighting The Mission: Changing Lives Through The Power Of Work 1

Houston, TX – May 9, 2024 – Goodwill Houston proudly presented its highly anticipated 2024 Annual Gala, an evening dedicated to celebrating the organization’s mission of changing lives through the power of work. Paying homage to the Kentucky Derby, the gala – held at the River Oaks Country Club – showcased Goodwill Houston’s commitment to empowering individuals with barriers to employment.

The 2024 Annual Gala attendees, including community leaders, supporters, and stakeholders, came together to champion the cause of supporting individuals to reach their full potential. Throughout the evening, guests were reminded of the organization’s dedication to educating, training, and employing individuals facing barriers to employment.

Guests also had the chance to participate in a silent auction featuring a variety of donated items, such as a Texas Hill Country Glamping package, a Live Painting Experience, a Pura Vida Costa Rica package, and the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Houston Astros game—all in support of Goodwill Houston’s mission.

As the evening unfolded, guests were inspired by success stories and testimonies of individuals whose lives have been transformed through Goodwill Houston’s programs and services. “We are proud to be able to give people the ability to take the first step into a new life,” stated Barbie Parker, Vice President of Fund Development and Community Relations at Goodwill Houston, “and our programs are able to stay free of charge to all participants thanks to generous supporters and fundraising events like our annual gala.”

Goodwill Houston is grateful to this year’s gala co-chairs, Keith & Cindy Kreuer and Andi Kreuer & John Roberts. The gala also allowed attendees to pledge their ongoing support for the organization’s mission.
