Goodwill Houston’s Business Advisory Council (BAC) is a group of local business and community professionals that provides advice and support to our Workforce Development department on labor market needs and trends, and connects Goodwill with employers looking for qualified candidates. They also work with our program participants to help them be prepared to enter the workforce. In addition to all the hard work they do on behalf of Goodwill Houston, the BAC gathers each year during the holidays to celebrate the accomplishments of program graduates.
This year’s annual BAC Holiday Luncheon took place on December 12th. Will Lufburrow, Goodwill Houston’s Director of Development and Special Projects, served as emcee for the event and introduced BAC President Pam Campbell. “The holidays always bring an excitement to this time of year, but there is a special excitement here in this room—and it is all about the program graduates who are here today,” said Campbell, as she welcomed the crowd, and prepared to give the invocation.
The keynote speaker was Captain Jae Barclay, a US Army veteran, who gave an inspiring talk about his journey of recovery. Amanda Kison, of Alliance Residential, also addressed the group and praised the very successful partnership they have with our Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) program. Pam Campbell returned to the podium near the end of the luncheon to thank her fellow BAC members, and welcome some new business professionals to the group. Will Lufburrow thanked Pam for her dedication, and closed the event with words of gratitude. “We are so grateful for the involvement of the business leaders that are part of the BAC. The contribution they make to our success is invaluable.”
