VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Goodwill Industries of Houston
A "SNAPSHOT" OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We're about people. We're about you…
In support of Goodwill's mission, which is to provide training, skills development and job opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment, there are many ways to give to Goodwill: time, expertise, in-kind, and financial contributions are all vital to Goodwill! In whatever way you choose to help, please know you are helping to change people's lives, many of whom have never realized a sense of purpose and self esteem or have been given a chance to succeed, before Goodwill… Thank you!
- Provide support, pro bono services ie. printing, catering, communications, graphics, signs.
- Host a donation drive at your place of business and name it, "Goods for Goodwill, Good for ___________" (your company name.) Or, at schools, name it "Good Kids for Goodwill." Clothing, toys, furnishings, domestics, sporting goods, just about everything!
- Hire a Goodwill trained employee through GTS (Goodwill Temporary Services).
- Offer to host a "Goodwill Goodies Day" for 450 employees with wrapped snacks in bags marked with a label with a nice message of encouragement and support from your company. Option: Help distribute them!
- Underwrite scholarships for Goodwill students to attend one its training programs through company employee clubs ($400 per student.)
- Add "A Partner with Goodwill Industries of Houston" with logo to media advertising in print (magazine, newspaper, billboard, internet, facility) or on the air (tv, radio).
- Gather a group to work along side of Goodwillers to help unload trailers and sort donated goods at the Main Campus.
- Participate on a special events steering committee as a sponsor and with volunteers: Goodwill Golf Tournament, Goodwill Gala, Moreton Achievement Luncheon.
- Host a "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" or like event with a block of tickets for Goodwill employees and trainees to attend.
- "Create-A-Good(will)-Project" of your choice to touch the lives and hearts of those at Goodwill…
