Annual Meeting
Each year Goodwill Houston holds its annual meeting in February that is open to all members of the local community including media. President & CEO, Steve Lufburrow, typically gives a re-cap of Goodwill Houston's achievements for the recent year and includes updates from each department. New board members announced at 2010 Goodwill Annual Meeting
All eyes were on the future as local and GII Board President, Bill Kacal, announced and welcomed Bradley H. (Brad) Marks, Coleman Rowland, and Brad Tutunjian to its Board of Directors at the Goodwill Annual Meeting on February 16th. Goodwill also expressed gratitude to those who have rotated off, Mark Lee and Sue Burnett, for their dedication and service to the board.
With more than 120 people in attendance, Steve Lufburrow, Goodwill Houston President and CEO, shared where the organization has been in 2010 and where it's headed in 2011 and beyond.
A few of the key points included:
- Over 11,000 people were impacted through Goodwill's programs and services in 2010
- Goodwill placed 1,000 people into permanent employment in 2010
- The organization saw a 135% increase in employees since 2006
- Goodwill has been awarded $2,000,000 in grant funding over the last two years
Lufburrow also took time to remember good friend, Goodwill advocate and past Board President, Harvey Houck. In Harvey's words, "Blessed is he who expects no gratitude, for he will not be disappointed."
Harvey dedicated much of his time to Goodwill leaving behind a legacy never to be forgotten.
