Steven P. Lufburrow
Steve Lufburrow is President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Houston®. A graduate of Southwestern University, Lufburrow has been working for Goodwill Houston since 1981, and has served as CEO since 1986.Read
Lufburrow has passionately presided over the organization’s unprecedented growth and credits its success to the tremendous support from donors and shoppers, as well as a superior management team and board of directors. His passion for non-profit leadership extends beyond his decades of service to Goodwill: he has served as a board member of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce; vice president of the Houston Club Board of Directors, president of the Rotary Club of Houston and president of the Texas Association of Goodwills. Lufburrow currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau and the Rotary Club of Houston Foundation, and Lufburrow and his wife Joan are currently the co-presidents of the Houston Alumni Association for Southwestern University. Steve also serves as a member of the Goodwill Industries International Board of Directors.
Lufburrow has received several awards and recognitions for his work, including the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Club and the Citation of Merit award from his alma mater Southwestern University. In 2014, he received the highest honor given to a Goodwill CEO, the Kenneth K. King Fellowship/CEO of the year. In 2016, Steve received The George Washington Distinguished Service Award from the Sons of the American Revolution.
Steve has been married to Joan for over 35 years; together they have two sons, Steven and his wife Sara and their daughters, and Will and his wife Terrell and their two children. He is a singer and drummer in the band Twist & Shout and Genre which plays classic rock and roll and Motown music; and with the Christian praise band, Encounter. His hobbies include motorcycle cross country touring.
Tony Van Slyke, CPA, CGMA
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Tony has served as the CFO of Goodwill Houston since June 2008. A graduate of the University of Houston with both a B.S. and MBA, he is also a certified public accountant and has worked in the banking, healthcare and oil & gas industries. Prior to working at Goodwill Houston, he has held positions in accounting, budgeting and forecasting, banking, insurance, cash/investment management, treasury finance and investor relations.Read
Tony also teaches a non-profit accounting and finance course at the University of Houston Downtown. In 2012, he was honored by the Houston Business Journal of Houston as the CFO of the Year in the Non-Profit category.
Tony is married to Sandra and has three grown children.
Director of Workforce Development
Alma Duldulao-Ybarra is the Director of Workforce Development. She started her career with Goodwill Houston in April 2012.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications from the University of Hawaii, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix-Hawaii Campus.Read
Alma has worked in the social services sector for 20 years. She has served as the Interim CEO of the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, an Executive Director of the East Hawaii Coalition for the Homeless and for Turning Point for Families, also in Hawaii, her home-state. Alma has been part of the Goodwill Movement for more than eight years, starting with Goodwill of South Texas before moving to Houston.
Kym I. King
Vice President of Public Relations & Community Affairs
Kym King joined Goodwill Houston in 2011 to head up the newly created Public Relations Department. A graduate of the University of Maryland, her extensive background in communications, public affairs, government and community relations is complemented by two decades of non-profit leadership.Read
As Vice President of the PR Department, Kym is responsible for promoting and protecting Goodwill’s brand, increasing awareness of Goodwill’s mission, forming and maintaining community partnerships, developing and implementing strategies for communicating with Goodwill’s internal and external constituents, as well as capturing and sharing Goodwill Houston’s success stories – using both traditional and digital media channels. She has served two City of Houston administrations as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, and has been instrumental in shaping and directing communications for both The Independent Living Research Utilization program at TIRR, and the Center for Research on Women with Disabilities at Baylor College of Medicine. She served as a board member and advisor to numerous non-profit organizations.
She has produced and hosted original programming for radio and television stations throughout Texas and across the country. She has received numerous awards for her efforts including: the President’s Award from American Women in Radio & Television, the Excalibur Award from the Public Relations Society of America, and the Barbara Jordan Media Award from the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.
Kym has served on governing and advisory boards for numerous non-profit organizations in the Houston area. The list includes United Way of Greater Houston, Houston Center for Independent Living, Girls, Inc. and Miller Outdoor Theatre.
Director of Development and Special Projects
Will Lufburrow began his career with Goodwill as a marketing associate before being selected to participate in a management training program. He took over the role of Interim Manager of Development, before taking the role permanently in 2012. Lufburrow follows in the footsteps of his family by being a third generation Goodwill employee. Will Lufburrow is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences, and is also an alumni of the National Outdoor Leadership School.Read
An avid outdoorsman, Lufburrow serves on the Board of Directors for the Outdoor Adventures Club. Will is married with two children.
Sheri Lytle, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CMC, MSM, HRPM
Vice President of Human Services
Sheri Lytle joined Goodwill Houston as Vice President of Human Services in 2017. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a human resources professional, and has worked in both the non-profit and for-profit sector.
Sheri has earned multiple certifications, including the Senior Professional in Human Resources Management (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute, and the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management. She holds two Bachelors’ degrees (Business Administration and Information Technology) and a Masters’ degree in Management.
Prior to joining Goodwill Houston, Sheri served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Silver Eagle Distributors, LP, and before that she held the same position at the Houston Zoo. Her areas of expertise include recruiting, hiring, employee relations, training, and government compliance. Sheri also has academic experience. For the last 15 years, Sheri has taught courses in business and human resources as an adjunct faculty member at Olivet Nazarene University.
Sheri, who hails from the Midwest, serves on the board of both the Healthcare Research Foundation and the Houston Business Coalition on Health. She is also a member of the Texas State Attorney General’s employer Task Force
